If you are anything like me, then winter is your time for eating more comfort foods. It starts with Thanksgiving, then Christmas time and in my country we have carnival as well. So making more exceptions to our normal diet than usual: white flour, sugar, alcohol, coffee. You may have noticed a worsening of your skin during this time as well.
Now, as we approach spring, would be a good time to get back to healthy habits and prepare your skin for spring!
These are my 5 tipps, that I share in the video:
Freshly prepared vegetables
stewed or steamed is better digestible and the body still gets enough vitamins and minerals and is spared from preservatives and other additives.
Easily digestible meals:
Basmati rice, barley, oats and quinoa support digestive activity in the intestine without any extra digestive burden. If you add the yellow split mung bean (a very healthy bean according to Ayurveda), you have a complete meal with enough protein.
Avoid hard to digest foods like: dairy, red meat, sugar, white flour products, caffeine, alcohol and all chemical additives.
Drink plenty of pure water (non-carbonated):
This helps with the elimination process of water-soluble metabolic products.
Sweating (sauna, steam bath, sports):
Through sweating we also eliminate substances which the body no longer needs and therefore aid detoxification.
Dry brush massage:
The lymphatic system is key to a healthy skin and can be mechanically stimulated to dissolve substances from the fat cells under the skin and to transport them on through the circulatory system.
